The beginnings of our little balcony garden

Nathan & I are so incredibly proud of our little balcony garden. It is beautiful and refreshing, and so far pretty fruitful! We've already got lots of our herbs, spinach, and lettuce coming in, and our strawberry plants are starting to turn out some lovely strawberries!

This is really such an incredible hobby to start with Nathan and carry on into our marriage. I'm excited to have something that is ours and that we can learn to do together. Plus, the rewards will be quite tasty! I'm so excited about our garden!

Soon I'll post more pictures of the budding greens.... it's so interesting to watch them grow bigger and stronger every day. Nature is pretty amazing.

And I have a feeling that Nathan & I will be frequenting The Home Depot while we're getting our apartment turned into our home. We've already got some exciting plans in the making.

Oh, and 51 days till we're married. =)

A tasty discovery

Now, before I go on to write a blog post about beer, it should be known that Nathan & I are not at all your typical twenty-somethings who love slamming a 6-pack of bud lights. In fact, we don't really drink that much. But we do enjoy good beer and good wine. I'd rather have two glasses of tasty beer than a 6-pack of some cheap domestic.

I usually make an attempt to try a different beer when I buy packs at the grocery store. I like to scope out different breweries, different locations, and different types of beers. To this point, I've realized that I like ambers most, and dislike pilsners.

My most recent finding is a wonderful summer beer: Abita Strawberry Lager.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars. In terms of taste: excellent. It manages to have a lovely strawberry flavor while maintaining its hoppiness. In other words, it still tastes like a beer, not a Mike's Hard Lemonade. The slight sweetness is perfect for having just a couple beers, but probably not if you want to down a 6-pack. But like I said, we tend toward enjoying the taste of a couple good beers versus the alternative.

Anyone looking for a refreshing summer beer, check out Abita's Strawberry Lager. I highly recommend it.

Hello, spring

It's about that time, y'all.
Spring has arrived. and I'm really hoping & praying that it doesn't hide away again until fall.

Yesterday Nathan helped me do some spring cleaning: we purged my closet hard-core. I gave away two stuffed garbage bags to Goodwill, and reorganized my closet. I've been following a great fashion blog, Kendi Everyday, and it's been really inspiring me to use my wardrobe more efficiently and with less. So I chucked out the distractions that never got worn in order that I might be able to really use what I've got.

Nathan accompanied me on shopping trip to Target, where I got some great new shoes, a cute skirt, a shirt almost exactly like one I wanted from JCrew but for literally 1/3 the price, and a great versatile belt. I'm so excited to use these pieces with others in my closet & start creating outfits that are mature, flattering, and fun.

Afterwards, we went grocery shopping together and then came home & talked through our plans to make the apartment OUR home. It was exciting. I can't wait to be a wife, with a husband, and a home. ahhhh, only 59 days.
